Essential Oils are volatile liquids that are distilled from plants ( including such parts as the seeds, bark, leaves, stems, roots flowers, fruit, etc.) When I say “volatile” I am not referring to explosive, I am referring to the fact that it will evaporate if left unsealed. One of the factors that determines the purity and therapeutic value of an oil is its chemical make up. This can be affected by many variables, such as, which part of the plant was used to make the oils, where it was grown, type of soil it was grown in, type of fertilizer used (organic or chemical), the altitude it was grown at and the climate. A big factor is how it was harvested, when it was harvested and how it was distilled.
As one begins to understand the power of essential oils in the realm of personal holistic healthcare we begin to understand the ABSOLUTE necessity of obtaining pure, therapeutic grades essential oils. No matter how costly pure, therapeutic-grade oils may be, there can be no substitute. While Chemists can replicate some of the individual constituents of an oil, it would be difficult, if not impossible to replicate complete oils in a laboratory. I am familiar with and use doTerra Essential oils because of their ethical growing, harvesting, and distilling methods.
The benefits of using pure therapeutic-grade essential oils are that they embody the regenerating, protective and immune strengthening properties of the plant they are derived from. Some plants are natural antibiotics, some antiviral and some are germicidal. Therapeutic-grade oils are small in molecular size allowing them to quickly penetrate the skin, penetrate cell membraines even when those membranes have hardened due to oxygen deficiency. In fact, they have the potential to effect every cell in the body with in 20 minutes of application or ingestion, them metabolizes like other nutrients.
I will be starting off this series of articles with a grouping of oils that I feel that should be a staple in every home, for everyday use. I will then move on to other oils as the mood strikes. If you have questions about a specific oil or problem you would like to see addressed, please feel free to ask for me to cover it for you.
I am here to bring awareness and to educate.
